Gay Lyne Tarango
CFO and Controller
Gay Lyne is the person you bring in when the accounting operation has outgrown the way it was built.
Gay Lyne has spent her career inside the close, the audit, the system conversion, and the regulatory filing, which means she knows exactly where the reporting breaks and why.
Her range is unusual. She has run consolidated reporting for a $1.5 billion equipment finance portfolio with SEC and Federal Reserve obligations, and she has rebuilt accounts receivable and job costing for a family-owned HVAC contractor with 130 employees. Both jobs require the same thing: getting the numbers right, on time, with controls that hold.
Areas of expertise
Financial reporting and close
Shepherded monthly close, quarterly and internal reporting, and consolidated financials for five entities. Full-cycle close, financial reporting, cash forecasting, and budgeting, including work with offshore teams.
ERP and system implementation
Change agent for an ERP conversion to SAP and a SAP Super User in GL and BPC. Implemented Blackline, SAP BI and BEX, and Salesforce. Led ServiceTitan front-end documentation and dashboard integration with QuickBooks Enterprise.
Regulatory and SEC reporting
SEC, Federal Reserve, and jurisdictional reporting, including FR 2248 and FR Y-9C workbooks. Coordinated internal audits, SOX compliance, and federal credit union examinations.
Portfolio monetization
Accepted financial leadership of a $400 million remaining portfolio in 2015 and monetized it, returning $300 million in cash to AIG while generating $25,000 in fee income and $185,000 in operating savings, then transitioned finance functions to the parent.
Transaction support
Coordinated external vetting and calculations for the sale of a $600 million railcar entity and $450 million in tax-exempt assets. Fulfilled quarterly and new-parent external audit requests following an acquisition.
Receivables and collections
Overhauled accounts receivable processes: invoicing, collections, and lien filing for builder clients, plus collection agency selection for retail clients. Implemented corrections to 1099 and investor reporting.
Job cost and payroll
Managed payroll processing for 130 employees including job costing, through HR transitions and as review and backup, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Treasury and banking
Converted multiple accounts to a large commercial bank, driving efficiency, revenue, and cost savings. Managed treasury functions, ALICO membership, and a 401(k) replacement for a legacy pension plan.
Cost and vendor analysis
Detailed financial analysis of contracts, employee-driven costs, and vendor negotiations, producing cost reductions on uniforms, clarity on ServiceTitan services, and accountability for vehicles, cell phones, and toll tags.
Scale experience: $1.5 billion portfolio to $30 million contractor
At AIG Commercial Equipment Finance, Gay Lyne helped stand up the companies and the chart of accounts for a de novo holding group that grew to a $1.5 billion North American portfolio. She brings that same structure to owner-operated businesses that have never had it.
